Intro
Another quick escape from work brings me to two more close neighbors for a perfect combination of three vacation elements — fun, sun, and… archaeological ruins! This is Central America’s forte — one is never too far from the other two here.
The prime destination this time is Honduras — packed with plenty of beaches, islands and ruins galore. We chose Roatán as our beach
destination, and Copán for our history, and we were set for an action-packed extended weekend!
Along with the two main draws above, I managed to hit the capital, Tegucigalpa; the largest city (at the time), San Pedro Sula; and of course another country on the way, El Salvador. An extended stopover there allowed me to explore both San Salvador and the charming colonial town of Suchitoto, where the fresh pupusas were the real highlight!
(Tip: unless you KNOW your stomach can handle it, just say no to the curtido. Trust me on that one!)
