World Cup Fever!
What an “event”-ful year — first there was the Olympics, and now the once-every-10-years Passion Play in Oberammergau, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa!
My first stop was Munich, and from there drove to the Bavarian Alps to see the famous “Passionspiele” in Oberammergau and the fabled
Neuschwanstein Castle. Then it was back on the road for a 3-day autobahn trip through some “off-the-beaten-track” cities of Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Then it was off to the main event: four unforgettable matches over the course of a week, each in a different city in South Africa, peppered with mini-trips to four other countries — Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia — and even squeezed in a safari at Kruger National Park!
Nothing can explain the feeling of being at the World Cup in person… just make sure to bring some earplugs! Ke Nako!
