Mexico City, Mexico 📍 - #selfie-time at the museo soumaya in mexico city`s #polanco district. the #museum was designed by mexican architect fernando romero, and was named in honor of carlos slim`s late wife. it houses his personal collection of over 66,000 amazing works of art - and best of all, entry is free! 🇲🇽
San José, Costa Rica 📍 - this is a "what am i doing here" #selfie. after my flight to mexico city was cancelled due to airport flooding, i missed my connecting flight to managua, and the only way to get me there (the next day!) included an overnight stop in san josé, costa rica! luckily, i love this #city - it`s my third time here, and is still as lively as i remember! 😉 🇨🇷
Léon Viejo, Nicaragua 📍 - the #ruins of léon viejo, one of #nicaragua`s two world heritage sites. the city was mostly destroyed by an earthquake in 1610 and was moved to the present day location of #léon. over the years, the abandoned city was eventually buried by lava from volcán #momotombo`s eruptions until it was rediscovered centuries later in 1967 🇳🇮
San José, Costa Rica 📍 - the elegant neo-classical teatro nacional de #costarica opened in 1897 when the population of san josé was only 19,000 people. interestingly, it was funded by placing a tax on coffee, the country`s biggest export. 120 years and more than 300,000 people later, it is arguably still the most #beautiful building in #sanjosé! 🇨🇷
Managua, Nicaragua 📍 - with the old #cathedral of #managua unusable after the 1972 earthquake, a new modern one was built in 1991. the unique design of the immaculate conception cathedral, by mexican architect ricardo #legorreta, has 63 domes which provide natural light and ventilation to the building 🇳🇮
