Intro
Yes! The defining trip of my youth… the post-college backpacking, hitchhiking, train-taking, country-hopping, hostel-staying trip of a lifetime. Except, I couldn’t wait until after graduation to do it, so I did it a full year before graduating. That travel bug was really starting to get bad.
72 days – two-and-a-half months – essentially my entire summer vacation, was this trip! This was, and still is, my longest trip ever, covering 19 countries (tied with my round-the-world trip in 2001)! The heart of the trip had me meeting up with 4 friends in Seville, the start of an epic
backpacking jaunt through Europe – covering Spain, Andorra, Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, Czech Republic, and finally ending in Poland — going through some of my favorite cities in Europe.
Not satisfied with that, I planned a pre-trip trip to England, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland for two weeks with a different friend, then left her in London and continued on my own for another week in France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and northern Spain, before finally meeting up with my friends.
Of course… still not satisfied with that, after Warsaw, I continued on my own to Greece, Jordan, Egypt, and finally Germany. Realizing that I’ll never be truly satisfied, I flew back home, and went right back to school. Until next summer!
