Ometepe is a magical place! Two volcanoes on an island, inside of a lake! You can hike to secluded beaches through a nature reserve full of monkeys, snakes, and butterflies, swim in a natural lagoon, climb a volcano, visit ancient historic sites, explore small towns, or just relax at lakeside beach bars! All just an hour-long ferry ride away from the ‘mainland’ across the lake. The volcano behind me is Concepción, the larger of the two, an active volcano that stands at 1600 meters tall.
