June – August 1999

Intro

Yes!  The defining trip of my youth… the post-college backpacking, hitchhiking, train-taking, country-hopping, hostel-staying trip of a lifetime.  Except, I couldn’t wait until after graduation to do it, so I did it a full year before graduating.  That travel bug was really starting to get bad.

72 days – two-and-a-half months – essentially my entire summer vacation, was this trip!  This was, and still is, my longest trip ever, covering 19 countries (tied with my round-the-world trip in 2001)!  The heart of the trip had me meeting up with 4 friends in Seville, the start of an epic

The obligatory ‘tourist’ shot of one of the most famous buildings on earth, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Of course, it’s worth noting that I’m the one trying to save the building from destruction, not the one trying to topple it!
